What is Reiki?
Reiki is the Japanese word for universal (rei) life energy (ki), the invisible life force energy that flows through all living things. The knowledge of an invisible energy that flows through all living things has been part of the wisdom of many cultures for thousands of years. Prana, Sekhem, Chi, Mana, are some other names used in different cultures referring to the same energy. The existence of life force energy has even been documented by scientific experiments.

How does Reiki work?
Reiki is a technique that helps the body to release stress and tension by generating deep relaxation. While in a relaxed state Reiki promotes healing and health. Reiki uses techniques for transmitting energy to yourself and others through the hands into the human energy system. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress. It gently and effectively helps energy move freely leaving one feeling relaxed and at peace.

What does a Reiki session look like?
An average session lasts approximately an hour. You will be lying down on a massage table fully clothed (minus shoes, hats, and glasses if worn). Relaxing music is available if the client chooses, but is not required.
You may let your provider know if there is a specific area that you would like addressed. You can choose to ask questions during your session or relax and remain silent, meditate, or nap. We make every effort to be sure that each client feels safe and comfortable

What will the Reiki Practitioner do?
The practitioner works above your body or lightly places their hands on various parts of it (with permission to touch, this is optional). Reiki practitioners will feel for places where the energy is stagnant or deficient and work with the chakras, or acupuncture meridian lines. They may also receive impressions about a place that may be in need of attention.
At the end of the session, they will relay any impressions and check in about anything that came up for you..

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for a session?
Come with an open mind and spirit! When engaging in any thing that contributes to your health, eating clean and drinking water is encouraged. Wear comfortable clothes to your session. If you choose, you can focus on an affirmation that is of particular importance to you at the time of your session.
